As a kitten, my name was Snuggles because I was so snuggly. My first owner named me Gir after a cartoon character. Sadly when I got diabetes my owner decided he didn’t want me anymore. I went back to the veterinary technician who rescued me as a kitten. Now, as long I get my insulin injections twice a day I can stay healthy for a very long time. I love food…even the dog’s food, so in order to maintain my blood sugar levels I need to be in a house where I and any other pets are fed twice a day under supervision. I can not be allowed out of the house under any circumstance as there are many fun things to eat outside, and I will absolutely eat all of them.
I am still snuggly and enjoy rubs, I will meow a bit at meal time…or if I can’t find you, but other than that I enjoy quietly laying on a rug, bed, or chair, and gazing out of windows. I have lived with a small white fluffy dog, but we just ignore each other. I have never lived with another cat so I’m not sure how that would be. If you surprise me I will probably run and hide under a bed or behind a couch, but if I know you are coming and you let me know you want to pet me I would enjoy that. Head and butt scratches are the best.
I also have most of my own stuff including a carrier, bed, 2 scratching wavy thingies, a few toys, several jingle balls, an undercoat eliminator brush (furminator style), and 2 litter boxes. I’m actually borrowing the dog’s food and water bowls, so I would need a new set of those.
I hope to find a home where I can spend the rest of my life.
This kitty is currently in a loving foster home and has been tested negative for FIV/FELV, microchipped, has age appropriate vaccinations, and has been spayed/neutered.

Special Needs: Cats are lucky in that they can have transient Diabetes. That means with quick action and proper care the diabetes can be reversed and the cat can go on living a normal, happy, healthy life without any need for insulin. After several months Snuggles Gir has achieved this and is now doing very well.
He has been maintained on Science Diet m/d which is a prescription food. That means maintaining a relationship with a full service veterinarian and ordering the food through them. The food generally costs around $60-$70 for 24 cans and ½ can is fed twice a day. It may be possible to switch him to the dry food version of m/d or even a less expensive diet, but only under the care and recommendation of a veterinarian as his blood sugar would need to be closely monitored and his previous history of urinary struvite crystals would need to be taken into consideration.
It is of the utmost importance that his diet be maintained no matter how cute he looks or how much begging he does. Since either Diabetes or a blockage of struvite crystals could be a life threatening problem for him and very expensive medical bill for you. With the proper food neither of these issues should be a concern.
He has to be strictly indoors to avoid eating things outside and if there are other pets in the household they can not be free fed or he will eat their food as well. Feeding time should be closely monitored so that he only eats his own food and any uneaten food of other pets must be picked up.
If a situation arose in which you could no longer care for him he should be returned to me through Cats Can Inc. along with his belongings and we will try to find him a new home.
