Mango was in critical condition when we took her in and and nursed her back to health . She had a severe upper respiratory virus caused by herpes . This particular strain affects the eyes the worst. She had damage to both eyes. With appropriate medical intervention, we were able to save her eyes. She has been evaluated by a veterinary ophthalmologist. She has some scarring in both eyes with the right eye being worse. She has limited vision in her right eye and slight impairment in the left. The ophthalmologist said that her eyes will not get worse but will also not improve. You will notice that she has some cloudiness in her eyes. This is from the scarring. How does this affect her daily life? It doesn’t! Mango runs around like a normal kitten without a care in the world! She gets around fine, and it is not noticeable that she has limited vision. Occasionally she will have runny eyes and some sneezing. The doctor believes that she would do better and not have flare ups in a home with less cats . A companion or 2 would be ideal. Mango is truly an awesome and strong kitten. She loves to play and is equally comfortable sprawled across your lap purring away! She loves to check in with me throughout her busy day.
This kitty is currently in a loving foster home and has been tested negative for FIV/FELV, microchipped, has age appropriate vaccinations, and has been spayed/neutered.
